
Farmer’s Market Foods (FMF) is an artisanal American food brand bringing local gourmet cheese and sausage gift boxes online. The brand needed a high-performance, easy-to-manage e-commerce platform that could serve both retail customers and wholesale partners while connecting seamlessly with their logistics and fulfillment ecosystem.
Originally operating through manual fulfillment and separate systems, FMF approached Dicom Interactive to design and develop a headless e-commerce solution that would automate order management, improve checkout performance, and maintain full control of customer data and marketing flows.
Dicom delivered a Shopify Hydrogen headless site powered by a Node.js backend, integrated with Stripe and Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF). The result is a fast, scalable, and fully customized platform that merges traditional craftsmanship with digital efficiency.
As per FMF’s business model, Dicom developed a dynamic, scalable, and easy-to-manage headless storefront that bridges D2C retail and wholesale operations.
To handle FMF’s complex logistics, we developed a multi-channel fulfillment system that connects Shopify orders with Amazon MCF, ShipStation, and custom 3PL warehouses. Orders are automatically routed to the right fulfillment center, and tracking updates sync back to Shopify in real time.
We chose Shopify Hydrogen for its flexibility and performance. This approach allowed complete creative freedom for the UI, ultra-fast page loads, and seamless connection to Shopify’s backend via Storefront API.
Instead of relying on Shopify’s standard checkout, we built a fully custom checkout flow integrated directly with Stripe — enabling payments through credit/debit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. This bypassed the need for Shopify Plus while still achieving enterprise-level payment flexibility.
FMF’s gift box collections are a key differentiator for their business. We built a custom “Create Your Own Gift” module that allows customers to select from multiple product categories and instantly preview pricing, composition, and packaging.
Recurring gift boxes and seasonal bundles were made possible through a subscription module powered by Stripe Billing, allowing automated renewals, invoice generation, and customer management — all visible in the CMS.

Developing a headless Shopify platform for a multi-warehouse fulfillment brand came with unique challenges.
Synchronizing Shopify with Amazon MCF was not straightforward — particularly when a single customer order was split into multiple shipments from different warehouses. We engineered a logic layer that merged multiple fulfillment statuses into a single view.
Shopify’s native checkout customization is locked behind its Plus plan. To achieve the same flexibility, we developed our own checkout layer using Stripe Elements and Hydrogen, keeping PCI compliance while enabling custom discount handling.
The FMF project was on a strict timeline to launch before the holiday season. With careful sprint planning and collaboration across design, development, and QA, we delivered every milestone on schedule.
FMF’s tech stack included Amazon MCF, ShipStation, Faire Direct, and custom 3PL providers. Building a unified bridge between these systems required deep API integration and error handling.
Despite these challenges, the team succeeded in creating a robust, automated, and beautifully designed site that FMF’s team can manage with confidence.

Throughout the process, Dicom worked closely with FMF’s marketing and logistics teams to refine user flows, align visual direction, and automate internal operations. From product setup to final delivery, every interaction was mapped for speed and reliability.
The final platform not only supports direct consumer sales but also wholesale and marketplace integrations, positioning FMF for long-term digital growth.
